The regular Japanese F1 media, and there’s quite a lot of them, haven’t had much good news to write about, what with the demise earlier this year of the Super Aguri team and the fact that Honda is not doing too brilliantly right now.
So, our announcement that we will be running Japanese hero Takuma Sato for a day’s testing in Jerez, after the Italian Grand Prix, has sent the Japanese press into a frenzy of speculation and rumour.
So, Gerhard Berger, himself hugely popular in the Land of the Rising Son, since his Honda-powered days as a McLaren driver, decided to treat them all to a mini press conference on Friday afternoon, so they could bombard him with questions: most of them will only really be answered after Taku-san has driven the car.
